I used this app, along with a standard Italian/English dictionary, on a recent trip to Italy. For fun, I tested the dictionaries against each other. After all, did I really need TWO dictionaries?
Here’s one example why you shouldn’t be without this app.
A menu listed Mozzarella in Carrozza. The standard dictionary suggested “carrozza” was a railroad car. Great…cheese in a railroad car…not helpful.
“Translate Italian Dishes” explained that Mozzarella in Carrozza (in a carriage) is a “method of cooking Mozzarella cheese sandwiches. They are first dipped in whipped eggs, then coated with breadcrumbs and fried.”
Case closed. Don’t reach for an Italian menu without this app on your smartphone.
